Description

Ashgates became part of the DJH group in 2024, becoming our first office in the East Midlands. They are a progressive, proactive, and friendly accountancy and advisory practice with over 80 people based at Pride Park, Derby.
Established in 1991, the firm has grown incredibly over the years which has helped attract a talented team. They can provide a broad range of support and advice to businesses and individuals, on a local, national, and overseas level.
Our recent merger with them gives us a platform to continue our growth into the future, whilst maximising the opportunities for our team. You can find out more about the partnership on our website.

We are now on the lookout for an Accounts Senior to join our growing team. All work is reviewed by a manager, but is largely unsupervised at this level.

What your day to day will look like as an Accounts Senior:

Prepare financial statements from client source records, completing the necessary supporting schedules for manager review.
Undertake regular bookkeeping for clients, including the preparation of VAT returns and management accounts as necessary.
Be involved with planning work for relevant work assignments.
Guiding and advising trainee / junior staff in the department, delegate work where necessary and suggest work that other members of the team can undertake.
Chase up outstanding queries with clients and to “progress manage” their own assignments.
Take responsibility for a certain assignment, able to coordinate separate Ashgates services (ensuring queries cleared at a suitable point in time for clients), plan ahead suggesting dates for internal reviews etc.
May be required to travel to clients’ premises. Some overtime is required from time to time.
