Job Description
The role is fast-paced and demanding and covers both management and financial accounting. As part of our operational leadership team, you will lead our accounting operations on a day-to-day basis, working independently while guiding a small team. Being able to adapt to changing client needs and month-end demands is essential.
• KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES--
• Accounting and Tax Compliance: Compile statutory financial statements and income tax returns for New Zealand, Australian and UK individuals, family trusts and trading entities. Provide tax and business advice to the Director on NZ, Australian, and UK tax law applications. Oversee management reporting, including budgets, YTD reports, and variance analysis. Ensure indirect tax compliance (e.g., GST) and manage timely e-filing. Achieve budgeted chargeable hours, fees, and profitability targets, ensuring services are delivered efficiently.
• Team Oversight and Leadership: Supervise and mentor staff, fostering a positive and productive team environment. Oversee group and client accounts, including payables, receivables, payroll, and internal reporting activities. Motivate and manage the team, ensuring workflows are efficient and deadlines are met.
• Client Management and Reporting: Serve as the primary contact for client queries, ensuring timely and professional communication. Resolve client disputes and maintain high service standards. Analyse client data to develop dashboards and intelligent reporting metrics, providing actionable insights for clients.
• Process Optimisation and Strategic Contribution: Contribute to strategic plans and business development, identifying opportunities for improvement. Streamline and optimise accounting processes, ensuring best practices are implemented. Maintain robust internal controls to protect the integrity of financial information.
• QUALIFICATIONS, REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE--
• Education: Qualified ACCA or near qualified ACCA/CA (ESSENTIAL).
• Experience: Minimum 3–5 years in an ACCA/CA environment with proven ability to manage accounting portfolios and oversee small teams (ESSENTIAL).
• Certifications: Xero Advisor Certification (ESSENTIAL).
• Technical Skills: Proficient in Xero. Experience with eCommerce platforms such as A2X, Stripe, Amazon, WooCommerce and Shopify is advantageous.
• Software Proficiency: Strong skills in MS Office Suite and cloud-based collaboration tools like SharePoint, Google Drive and Dropbox.
• Skills and Attributes: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities and excellent written and verbal communication skills. Manages client needs effectively.
• Personal Attributes: Self-motivated, well-organised and adaptable.
