Reporting to the Accounting Manager, the Senior Accountant/Analyst is responsible for providing accounting support to Old Sturbridge Academy and Worcester Cultural Academy. This role is responsible for month-end closes, audit support, and budget support. The Senior Accountant/Analyst is accountable for grants management, GEM$, and DESE communication and obligations. This role is responsible for distributing the monthly financial statements for both charter schools to Leadership team members.Old Sturbridge Village, the largest outdoor history museum in the Northeast, depicts a rural New England town of the 1830s.

This role will (contribute) (ensure) Old Sturbridge Villages commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility.)Essential Duties: Responsible for the day-to-day accounting of Old Sturbridge Academy and Worcester Cultural Academy. oComplete required monthly journal entries.
oComplete required monthly, quarterly, and annual reconciliations. oResponsible for the monthly bank reconciliations.Provide budget support for both charter schools.Support the Heads of school, faculty and staff as needed/requested.Responsible for the management of grants, GEM$, and DESE requirements. Responsible for sending the Leadership team members accurate and complete financial statements by the 10th business day of each month.Support and provide audit requests for internal and external audits.Responsible for the procurement for both schools. oMaintain MCPPO (Massachusetts Certified Public Purchasing Official) designation.
Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and relevant regulations. Support the Accounting Manager in adhering to internal controls. Other duties as assigned by the Accounting Manager. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office 365.Proficiency in accounting software, Blackbaud/Financial Edge NXT preferred. Prior working experience with DESE and GEM$ preferred.
Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Excel required. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.Strong understanding of nonprofit accounting policies, procedures, and practices, including fund accounting and grant management.Ability to multitask and flourish in a high-paced environment.Strong time-management skills and the ability to prioritize a varying workload.Protect organizations values by keeping sensitive information confidential.
