Job Description
As our Senior Manager, Compliance & Privacy Officer, you are the guardian of our reputation and the architect of our regulatory strategy. This is a high-visibility leadership role overseeing our North American operations and acting as the vital link to our global offices in the UK and beyond. You aren’t just "checking boxes" you are a versatile leader who can pivot from advising on complex AML laws to leading a data privacy investigation or navigating a high-stakes audit.
What You’ll Be Doing
1. Strategic Regulatory Leadership
The Compliance Liaison: Serve as the primary point of contact for regulators in Canada, the US, and the UK. You’ll manage the lifecycle of corporate licenses and guide "Key Person" applications with precision.
Business Advisory: Act as a subject matter expert for our business units, translating complex legislative changes into actionable advice for launching products in new territories.
2. Chief Privacy Officer (CPO) Duties
Data Protection Guardian: Lead our global compliance efforts for GDPR, PIPEDA, HIPAA, and more.
Privacy Culture: You won't just write policies; you’ll build a culture of privacy through "Lunch and Learns" and proactive Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs).
Incident Response: Take the lead on investigating and remediating privacy complaints, ensuring we remain a trusted partner to our members.
3. Risk & Internal Audit
Risk Architect: Maintain the Corporate Risk Register and conduct annual AML and vendor risk assessments.
Audit Excellence: Own the delivery of internal and external audits (including ISO 27001 and SOC 1/2/3), collaborating with teams to turn audit findings into operational strengths.
4. Governance & Legal Oversight
Contract Strategy: Oversee our contract management platform, reviewing legal components and collaborating with external counsel on complex files.
Records & Security: Serve as the Records Retention Officer and oversee physical security protocols to keep our assets and data safe.
Who You Are
An Expert Communicator: You can negotiate with Executive Management and regulators with equal parts diplomacy and confidence.
A Seasoned Professional: You have 8+ years of experience in Compliance and Contracts, specifically within the Insurance industry.
A Technical Specialist: You have a deep background in Audit, Risk Management, and AML.
Analytically Minded: You thrive in high-volume environments where "detail-oriented" isn't just a buzzword it's how you work.
Qualifications
Post-secondary degree in Business, Law, or a related field.
Fluency in English (French is a major asset).
Paralegal training or professional compliance certifications are highly preferred.
