McGrathNicol is a specialist Advisory and Restructuring firm trusted by the Australian Government and blue chip clients to partner with them to devise and implement pragmatic solutions for complex business issues. Our dedicated Canberra team specialises in advisory, internal audit, and risk management services for government departments and agencies. Our advisory services extend to national security, technology and cyber risk, fraud control, forensic investigation, procurement and probity, and program and project management. Currently we are seeking a Senior Consultant with internal audit, risk or advisory experience to join our Government and Advisory team. Our team excels in providing high-level, evidence-based, and independent assurance services to a variety of Government agencies. By partnering with these agencies, we enable them to assess the performance of their programmes accurately, empowering them to make well-informed strategic, policy, and operational decisions.

What you will do

Provide strategic advice on assurance, risk, governance and compliance matters.
Conduct internal audits, risk assessment across our clients in the Commonwealth.
Evaluate grant applications for Commonwealth funding, ensuring compliance and efficacy.
Investigate instances of fraud or non-compliance.
Who you are

Experienced in Government Advisory, with a focus on Internal Audit.
Keen to undertake further qualifications in Internal Audit (IIA), Risk or a CA qualification.
Proficient in written and verbal communication including report writing in internal audit.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Detail-oriented with a proactive approach.
Capable of handling sensitive matters with confidentiality and tact.
