The role
The Consumer Protection division promotes fair trading and consumer protection across Western Australia through a range of activities, including conciliation, engagement with the community and industry, regulatory compliance and enforcement, and legislative reform.
Working in a small but mighty team of two, the Senior Consumer Law Learning and Development Officer plays a key role in designing, developing, delivering and maintaining innovative learning and development resources to support the growth of Consumer Protection’s people.
Consumer Protection’s learning and development roadmap is lengthy, with continuously emerging opportunities and needs guided by an established Steering Committee. Current priorities include application of legislative changes, practical skills development, and specialist knowledge capture. We’re also focused on spotlighting our teams and celebrating pockets of excellence.
Drawing on previous experience, you’ll apply your creativity and skills using multimedia and course authoring tools to create impactful learning opportunities, including videos, job aids, interactive scenarios, podcasts and more.
This position suits an out-of-the-box thinker who can visually conceptualise complex topics in order to simplify learning and design content that sticks. You’ll be an excellent communicator who effectively uncovers and addresses stakeholder needs. Ideally, we’d love for you to be a superb writer and storyteller as well.
Endless curiosity, a positive attitude and a passion for adult learning and development will be the keys to your success in this role.

While this selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy, it may also be used to fill other similar vacancies (permanent, fixed-term, full-time or part-time) within the department for the next 24 months, from the date that the recruitment breach period has been finalised.
Eligibility
To be eligible for a permanent appointment, applicants must be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or have a visa to live and work indefinitely in Australia at the time of application. Applicants with a valid visa to work and live in Australia for a specific duration may be assessed and considered suitable for similar fixed term vacancies that arise.
To work for LGIRS, you must consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a clearance before you start. If deemed suitable, LGIRS will coordinate and pay for your NCCHC as part of your pre-employment checks.
