Responsibilities
Greer Financial Services is seeking an experienced and highly analytical Cost Accounting Manager to join our client’s plant finance and accounting team, leading all aspects of planning, reporting, and analysis of standard costing
This role will be the onsite Costing leader overseeing all cost accounting activities, including cost analysis, inventory valuation, job costing, variance reporting, and implementing robust accounting processes and procedures within our manufacturing operations
Manage the cost accounting function including ensuring accurate and timely reporting
Prepare analyze, and review standard cost rates for raw materials, labor, and overhead costs to ensure accurate product costing
Develop and implement cost accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to maintain data integrity and compliance with GAAP
Ensuring financial controls are maintained and that the requirements of the Sarbanes/Oxley Act are met
Conduct variance analyses to identify and investigate discrepancies between actual and standard costs, providing recommendations for process improvements or cost reduction initiatives
Oversee inventory valuation, including cycle counts, reconciliations, and ensuring proper costing methods are applied
Collaborate closely with production, engineering, operations, and manufacturing teams to gather data and gain insights into processes and costs
Prepare and present monthly cost reports, analyzing trends, and providing insights to management for informed decision-making
Contribute to the annual budgeting process by providing accurate cost projections and assumptions
Lead special projects, such as cost studies, process improvements, and system implementations related to cost accounting operations
Development of weekly Inventory KPI reporting
Mentor and develop the inventory team, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement
Set up new vendors, customers, inventory items, families, and general ledger accounts in the shop floor system
Develop Bill of Materials (BOMs) from the Cost Estimator's review of floor plans for production in the shop-floor system, including creating kits/sub-assemblies
Create and oversee manufacturing projects within the shop floor system, including attaching BOMs, inputting labor and material budgets, handing off BOMs to purchasing, and backflushing BOMs for completed projects
Oversee inventory reporting and reconciliation between the shop-floor system and the financial system
Capture Purchase Price Variances (PPV) and record journal entries in the financial system
Reconcile and generate month-end journal entries for Goods Not Received
Contribute to plant physical inventories

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required; CPA or CMA certification is preferred.
