The Aspire Bakeries Legal Department is seeking an experienced and motivated Director – Associate General Counsel (“EOM”) to provide vital assistance and tactical thought partnership to the General Counsel at the Company’s corporate headquarters. This role reports directly to the General Counsel and will be responsible for assisting in a wide of variety of legal matters for Aspire Bakeries’s locations throughout the United States and Canada. In partnership with the General Counsel, the AGC’s primary focus will be on real estate, commercial/IT contracts, and marketing/privacy compliance, as well as other ad hoc assignments and day-to-day legal assignments.
Responsibilities:
• Provide legal guidance and cross-functional support to internal stakeholders, primarily focusing on real estate, commercial, marketing, and privacy law, to achieve the Company’s business objectives
• Develop and manage Aspire Bakeries’s real estate portfolio, including tracking of applicable deadlines and negotiation of complex commercial leases
• Review, draft, and negotiate a variety of contracts, specifically manufacturing/sales, procurement, and IT service agreements
• Provide legal guidance and support to the Company’s marketing team
• Maintain subject matter expertise and ensure compliance with privacy requirements
• Conduct legal research and analysis on complex issues as directed by the General Counsel
• Assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure legal and regulatory compliance across the organization
• Manage and oversee outside counsel and legal vendors as needed
• Provide M&A support and oversight when needed
• Foster a culture of integrity and legal compliance throughout the organization
• Stay updated on regulatory developments within and outside the company, as well as best practices in compliance control
• Provide thought partnership to the General Counsel in enhancing the Legal Department and promoting its prominence internally and externally
• Assists with special projects as needed
Qualifications:
• Member of the California State Bar in good standing
• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school
• A minimum of 7 + years of experience working in a nationally recognized law firm or in-house legal department
• Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities and deadlines effectively
• Excellent organization and time management abilities
• Exceptional analytical and problem solving skills
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to handle confidential information
• Solid verbal and written communication, with the ability to effectively and confidently communicate complex legal concepts to non-legal stakeholders
• Strong interpersonal, stakeholder management and collaboration skills to support working within cross-functional teams
• Comfort taking ownership in various projects and seeing them through from a legal end
• Excellent Microsoft Office knowledge and presentation skills, including PowerPoint
Salary Range: $140,000 - $220,000
