Details: The Wellbeing Team in Policy and Cabinet Division is responsible for leading the development of the ACT Wellbeing Framework, guiding its implementation across the ACT Public Service (ACTPS), and engaging stakeholders and the community as part of this journey.

This role is a key leadership position within the team and Division, involving high level critical thinking and a high degree of outreach with colleagues across the Service, with research partners, with stakeholders (including non-government organisations), with other jurisdictions and within the ACT community.

You will work closely with the Executive Branch Manager (a job share team) and your co-Senior Director to progress implementation of the Framework – including leading and managing the wellbeing team and its work program and in shaping priorities and direction of the project.

The ACT’s work on wellbeing is at the forefront of wellbeing thinking nationally. Current priorities for the project include:

continuing to incorporate a wellbeing-informed approach to the business of government to achieve strong wellbeing outcomes over time for the people of the ACT, for the environment of the ACT and for the institutions that operate within the ACT – including in how the ACTPS plans, aligns its activities, collaborates, thinks longer-term and reports on progress at a whole-of-government level;
embedding a wellbeing culture and practice within the ACTPS (creating a wellbeing ecosystem) to support policy and program thinking and development, decision-making processes and a collaborative mindset; and
continuing to build, as a Service, an evidence base to understand wellbeing outcomes across our community and the factors that drive them – to support the business of government and foster engagement with stakeholders and the community more broadly.

We are committed to creating an inclusive environment where people with diverse thoughts, lived experience, and perspectives can thrive and contribute their unique talents to the ACTPS and ACT community. We encourage Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, people with disability, people with culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, veterans, younger and older workers, and people with diverse genders, sexes and sexualities to apply.

strategic and critical thinking;
