About the Role
The UK Government - Disclosure & Barring Service is seeking a highly skilled Senior Financial Accountant to join our team. As a Senior Financial Accountant, you will be responsible for supporting and developing the Financial Accounts team, providing guidance and support in establishing a controls-based environment.
You will also be responsible for leading the DBS monthly accounting process, preparing interim and year-end financial statements, and providing technical and clear advice on the application of accounting standards.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to develop and review key models critical for year-end accounting purposes, provide input into statutory and civil service-wide reports, and oversee the stewardship of DBS requisitioning.
You will work closely with internal and external auditors, identify process and system improvements, and manage day-to-day commercial contracts.
About You
Experience within a Financial Accountant role, managing multiple deliverables to tight timescales, and implementing financial controls.
Proven ability to communicate matters to a non-financial audience, build effective relationships with stakeholders, and manage coaching and developing a team.
Sound knowledge of latest accounting standards, developing financial policies, frameworks, and procedures.
