The Department of Communities brings together the services and functions of disability services, child protection and family support, community initiatives and regional services reform.

We are transforming how Communities attracts talent and we need sharp, energetic project minds to help lead the change.

Your Role. Your Impact.
A major, public sector wide reform is underway to bring efficiency and stability to the way we do recruitment. At Communities’ we’re the team turning this reform into reality.

As part of a collaborative project team, you will contribute to a large scale transformation program that is shifting us towards streamlined processes, smarter use of talent pools, reduced administration load, and a better experience for candidates and hiring managers.

You’ll play a key role in implementing legislative changes, procurement and roll out of a new recruitment system, and helping the organisation shift from traditional recruitment to a contemporary talent acquisition model.

You’ll get hands-on with the work that makes change real: project planning, governance, stakeholder engagement, discovery and analysis, process and system updates, and workforce readiness. You’ll help to shape new tools, templates, guidelines and workflows, and play a central role in user testing and implementation.

This role is about making meaningful change land. You’ll help leaders understand the shift, support teams to build new capability, and ensure recruitment and business strategy are aligned. Your work will directly enable our move to a contemporary Talent Acquisition operating model that is practical, impactful and built for the future.

About the Roles:

Principal HR Project Officer (Level 6):
You’ll lead work packages and provide senior guidance to ensure that reform objectives align with business needs and organisational strategy. You’ll help leaders and teams understand the shift and embed a more strategic approach to attracting talent.

Senior HR Project Officer (Level 5):
You’ll coordinate project activities, work closely with stakeholders, support analysis and documentation, and contribute to process redesign, testing and implementation. You’ll be hands-on in shaping practical improvements that make recruitment simple, faster and more user-friendly.

These roles offer the chance to work on meaningful recruitment reform, build strong relationships across Communities, and contribute to better service delivery and organisational capability. If you enjoy solving problems, turning ideas into practical outcomes, and thrive in an environment where progress is real and visible, we would love to hear from you!

The following positions are available for immediate filling with the possibility of extension and/or permanency for the following durations:

One (1) Senior HR Project Officer for 6 months
One (1) Senior HR Project Officer until end of January 2027 and;
