Role Overview
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Senior In-House Commercial Lawyer to join our small but dynamic legal team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in negotiating commercial contracts with some exposure to other common in-house related activities: negotiating property related agreements (leases, property sales), mergers and acquisitions (M&A), managing employment related issues, risk management and the purchasing insurances. We are looking for someone with a pragmatic commercial approach, who is willing and able to manage their own work load, and work as team.
What will you be doing?
• Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial contracts, including supplier agreements, service contracts, and partnership agreements.
• Provide legal advice on property-related matters, including leases, acquisitions, disposals, and property management.
• Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations, and advise on risk management strategies.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to support business objectives and provide proactive legal guidance.
• Provide timely and pragmatic legal advice to various business units and subsidiaries (frequently in other jurisdictions).
• Manage external legal counsel appointed business consultants advising on mergers, acquisitions, and other corporate transactions.
• Stay updated on legal developments and industry trends to ensure the company remains compliant and competitive.
• Conduct legal training for staff on relevant legal issues and company policies.
What are we looking for?
• Law degree from an accredited institution.
• Qualified solicitor/barrister with a valid practicing certificate.
• Demonstratable post-qualification experience in-house with a focus on contracts and commercial law.
• Proven track record of successfully managing complex legal transactions and negotiations.
• Familiarity with the engineering industry and related legal issues.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• High level of integrity and professional ethics.
