The Investigations and Corruption Prevention team need a methodical and organised person of high integrity to undertake internal investigations within the NSW Department of Customer Service (DCS).
You will lead investigations into Public Interest Disclosures and reports of Fraud and Corruption. Working with some remarkably brave people who make these reports and disclosures…you just won’t be able to tell anyone about it!
Your role will involve conducting internal investigations, gathering of evidence, completing interviews, and communicating and updating with key stakeholders and external regulators. We are a growing internal investigation team that needs someone who can operate independently, who can deliver successful investigation outcomes and help prevent fraud and corruption within DCS.
To be successful, strong investigation experience is necessary, including attention to detail with administration and excellent record-keeping skills. The ability to learn new systems and processes used during these investigations is also required. We are looking for someone who has worked within the investigations industry who is ready for their next challenge!
Full time, ongoing Grade +/10 opportunity
Salary range: ($125,6+3 - $138,510 + Super) commensurate with experience.
Based in Sydney CBD, with flexible and hybrid working opportunities available in line with the DCS Flexible Working Policy.
The role is located within the Fraud and Corruption Investigations Team in Governance, Risk and Assurance
Reporting to the Manager, Investigations and Corruption Prevention, you will undertake highly sensitive investigations, including collation of evidentiary materials and preparation of reports, to ensure the investigation and corruption prevention function achieves its legislative and compliance objectives.
Key responsibilities
Lead and conduct highly sensitive investigations related to probity, integrity, alleged corruption, and fraud to identify apparent or potential breaches of policies, procedures, legislation, and law.
Manage the collation of evidentiary material.
Compile detailed records within the internal Case Management System.
Identification and escalation of key risks when identified during the investigation.
Prepare comprehensive investigation reports and other material for a range of internal and external stakeholders to effectively communicate analysis, findings, insights, and recommendations to maintain accurate records and support decisions on appropriate actions.
Provide key stakeholders regular updates on investigation progression.
Provide timely reporting to the Manager, Investigations in the preparation and delivery of correspondence and other administrative requirements including statutory reporting obligations to the ICAC and NSW Ombudsman, and various Audit & Risk Committees.
Maintaining awareness of relevant issues, policy obligations and changes, insights, challenges, and trends.
Other tasks with Governance, Risk and Assurance as directed by the Manager of Investigations or Director Investigations and Corruption Prevention.
About You
Building and maintaining strong working relationships is a key for this role, therefore, you will bring forward your strong stakeholder management and problem-solving skills. You will have a key role in maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information and completing highly sensitive, fast paced investigations.
To be successful in this role you will have:
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills (including with internal and external stakeholders such as regulators and NSW Police), including experience composing clear and concise investigative reports, referrals and briefs of evidence.
Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritise a varied workload with limited guidance, including well developed planning, organisational, problem solving and analytical skills.
Significant experience in conducting alleged serious fraud or corruption investigations or workplace investigations, operating in a highly sensitive and confidential work environment.
High level interpersonal skills, including effective communication with people of diverse backgrounds, occupations, and seniority both internally and externally to DCS.
Knowledge of employment related legislation, government policies and procedures and understanding of the operations of external bodies such as the ICAC and the NSW Ombudsman and their associated legislative engagements with DCS.
