Senior Landowner Relations Advisor - Projects

💰 $10,640 - $17,024 (Est.) 📍 Auckland

Job Description

Within our Customer & External Affairs division the Landowner Relations and Property Team (LOR&P) ensures Transpower’s physical access to the grid throughout the asset lifecycle. The team is responsible for acquiring property rights and land access arrangements for Transpower assets, managing Transpower’s property and property rights portfolio, and developing and maintaining effective long-term landowner relationships.

Our Landowner Relations & Property team plays a critical role in enabling Transpower’s work across Aotearoa. We secure and manage the land access and property rights needed for our assets, build and maintain long term‑ landowner relationships, and support safe, respectful engagement with the communities we work in.

As Senior Landowner Relations Advisor, Projects you will support the Team Leader (LOR & P, Projects) with the planning, direction, management and delivery of land access for Transpower projects, working closely with internal and external stakeholders, with the aim to deliver services and advice of the highest standard and in line with best practice and our Landowner Relations Strategy TPNZ LOR Strategy. You can further view our suite of landowners resources here Landowner guides | Transpower.

This opportunity has arisen due to the imminent retirement of the incumbent. Because of the specialist knowledge required and some of our complexities, we see value in making an internal appointment to accelerate coming up to speed in the role and are initially only seeking expressions of interest from current Transpower employees who already understand our environment and ways of working.

What you’ll do

Plan and secure land access and property rights in line with project timelines and legislation
Advise on risks, options and pathways; prepare agreements/easements and land related‑ documentation
Guide project teams and service providers on respectful, best practice‑ engagement
De-escalate issues and resolve disputes; maintain accurate records in CRM
Champion the voice of the landowner and contribute to team capability and continuous improvement
Success looks like: smooth land access processes, well managed relationships, confident navigation of complex regulatory settings, and reliable, timely‑ updates to stakeholders.

Before you apply (quick self-check)

This is a high-engagement, people‑centred role. You’ll frequently talk with landowners, mana whenua, service providers, and internal project teams — explaining complex information, negotiating access, resolving issues, and maintaining respectful, confident relationships.

To thrive, you’ll either need experience in or evidence that you can quickly come up to speed with and apply knowledge of property rights, have confidence working with regulatory frameworks, possess excellent communication and negotiation skills, sound judgement under pressure, and can engage confidently and respectfully with mana-whenua and incorporate tikanga into your approach.

If this reflects your strengths and style, we’d love to hear from you; if you’re unsure, an early kōrero with your People Leader, the Hiring Manager or Talent Acquisition Partner (Campbell Hepburn) may help clarify fit.

Next steps
