The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced and commercially minded Senior Lead to head up our Corporate Department, which consists of four qualified solicitors (2–3 years PQE) specializing in Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A). This is a pivotal leadership role, driving growth and excellence in client service during 2025 and beyond.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the corporate team, ensuring high-quality delivery across all matters.
- Oversee a varied caseload including:
Share and asset acquisitions/disposals
Shareholder agreements
Commercial contracts
Partnership and LLP agreements
Bank funding transactions
- Act as the primary point of escalation for complex M&A matters.
- Develop and implement strategies to grow the department and expand market presence.
- Foster strong client relationships and maintain Rubric’s reputation for clear, outstanding advice.
- Mentor and support junior solicitors, promoting professional development and team cohesion.
What We’re Looking For
Personal experience in M&A transactions (essential).
Minimum 5 years PQE in corporate law, with demonstrable leadership capability.
Strong commercial acumen and entrepreneurial mindset.
Excellent communication skills – articulate, personable, and approachable.
Ability to work autonomously while aligning with firm values and objectives.

Location and hours:
Full-time (Monday-Friday, 37.5 hours per week) role — 9.00am till 5.30pm.
Location – this is a fully remote role with a small operations office in Monmouth. The team currently meet on a quarterly basis on the outskirts of Bristol or Gloucester.
