An opportunity has arisen for a Senior Minerals Advisor in the Minerals Operations Team, Resource Markets Branch at the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment.
The Minerals Operations Team regulates the responsible development of the Mineral Estate across a range of commodities including gold, silver, heavy minerals sands, coal and aggregates. This role focuses on the day-to-day operations in relation to the Crown's Mineral portfolio. The role includes active management of prospecting, exploration and mining permits during their lifecycle, and efficient assessment of permit applications each year in line with regulatory best practice.
We are looking for someone with a good understanding of the New Zealand mineral sector with the ability to understand regulatory compliance and the commercial viability of mineral deposits.
The successful applicant needs to have effective business writing skills, the ability to work with flexibility and to adapt to change quickly and have good relationship management skills with the confidence of working with diverse stakeholders. The applicant will want to consistently work to improve and enhance the way the team delivers our business to get the best outcomes for the sector and for New Zealand.

Tertiary qualification in a relevant technical discipline
Experience working in the mineral resource sector and/or in a regulatory role
Proven ability to deliver high quality customer service (internal and external)
Exceptional organisational ability and time management skills
Strong technical writing and communication skills with the ability to convey complex concepts to a range of audiences
Sound analytical skills and problem-solving ability
Ability to positively adjust to changes in priorities, and to maintain performance when under pressure
