About the role:
The Senior Policy Officer in the Public Health Prevention Programs Team will support and contribute to the development of state-wide and community level preventive health policies and programs. This includes influencing national and state policy outcomes and contract management with health prevention partners.
The Senior Policy Officer will facilitate and strengthen relationships between stakeholders within the Branch, Department (central office and divisions), other departments, local government, non-government organisations, researchers, industry and communities. The team will also contribute to preventive health policy and programs, as determined through ongoing business planning and through responding to emerging priorities over time.

How you'll make a difference:
Demonstrated experience in writing in a clear, fluent and concise manner to produce written communications that are appropriate and readily understood by varied audiences.
Ability to work in a flexible and agile manner.
Provide high quality policy advice, options and recommendations to senior management and government based on comprehensive research and analysis.
Monitor and report on high priority issues, risks and trends and prepare and present reports, ministerial briefs, and Cabinet submissions.
Manage key unit projects to include setting up, monitoring and managing contracts with external providers to ensure high quality outputs are delivered within agreed timeframes and budget and results can inform policy development.
Represent the department on key stakeholder committees and groups concerned with achieving government and departmental objectives and contribute to relevant committee and governance processes.
Forge strong connections across the department and with the health sector to share information and facilitate a partnership approach to implementation of key initiatives.
Coordinate and develop complex briefing products for Cabinet, Ministerial, senior departmental executive and executive sector stakeholders.
Work across multiple projects, including engaging with stakeholders, and working in multidisciplinary teams to meet emerging pressures and demands, as required.
