The opportunity

QBE has a strong commitment to respecting and promoting privacy for our customers and people, and we are continuing to strengthen our enterprise capability. The Senior Privacy Lead plays a critical role in shaping and driving QBE’s privacy strategy, risk management and responsible data use across AUSPAC, as part of the broader Group Privacy Team.

This is a senior, influential role working closely with business leaders to embed privacy‑by‑design, uplift privacy maturity and ensure regulatory and governance obligations are met across a complex, regulated environment.

About QBE

At QBE, we get to the heart of what matters for our customers. And we do it all with a human touch.

We’re an international insurer with more than 13,000 people working across 26 countries – which means we’re big enough for your ambitions, yet small enough for you to make a real impact. It’s an exciting time. We’re building momentum towards our vision to become the most consistent and innovative risk partner.

What if you could have a positive impact – at work and in the world? As part of the QBE team, you’ll get to spend every day working with people who are passionate, talented and kind.

Your new role

As Senior Privacy Lead, you will provide strategic leadership and hands‑on expertise to support the development and execution of QBE’s privacy strategy, roadmap and priorities across AUSPAC, while contributing to enterprise‑wide uplift through the Group Privacy Team. You will act as a trusted advisor, helping the business navigate privacy risk, regulatory obligations and responsible data and AI use in a pragmatic and commercial way.

Key responsibilities include:

Leading and supporting the development and delivery of QBE’s privacy strategy, roadmap and priorities across AUSPAC and Group

Providing expert, pragmatic advice on privacy risk, controls, regulatory requirements and responsible data and AI use

Driving consistent implementation of Group privacy, data and AI policies across AUSPAC to manage divisional and enterprise risk

Overseeing key privacy governance activities, including PIAs, incidents and complaints, personal information flows, retention and transparency obligations

Partnering with Legal, Risk & Compliance, Technology, Cyber, Data and AI teams to embed privacy‑by‑design across initiatives and change activity

Developing meaningful reporting, insights and metrics for senior leaders and the Head of Privacy AUSPAC and Chief Privacy Officer to support informed decision‑making

About you

You are a senior privacy professional with deep subject‑matter expertise and experience operating in large, complex and regulated environments. You are comfortable balancing strategic thinking with operational delivery and are known for building strong, trusted relationships with senior stakeholders. You bring a solutions‑focused mindset and the confidence to lead, influence and challenge when needed.

What we’re looking for:

Strong experience in privacy risk management, governance, PIAs, incidents and regulatory engagement

Demonstrated ability to provide clear, pragmatic advice to senior stakeholders on complex privacy issues

Experience embedding privacy‑by‑design and responsible data and AI principles into business and technology initiatives

Proven capability in developing reporting, metrics and insights for executive and board‑level audiences

Strong stakeholder management skills and experience working across legal, risk, technology and data functions

Experience in insurance or financial services is beneficial, but not essential
