Job Description

Overview: The Senior Project Manager will lead large-scale multi-craft, joint venture, or EPC projects exceeding $200 million. This role is crucial in ensuring project Safety, Quality, and Project Controls are met. The Project Manager will direct engineering efforts, technology providers, and JV partners as necessary, being accountable for the project's overall success including safety, quality, labor management, material oversight, client relations, and execution across all disciplines.

To excel in this position, a deep understanding of industry policies and best practices across all disciplines is essential. The role involves close collaboration with clients, engineering/design teams, subcontractors, distributors, vendors, and ongoing strategic communication with project management regarding project status.

Location & Travel: This is a traveling position requiring up to 90% travel across the U.S., with potential assignments lasting 8 to 18 months per project. A generous per diem, competitive salary, mobilization support, and additional home time every four weeks will be provided. Company vehicle and fuel card or vehicle allowance offered.

Responsibilities:
• Oversee the site management team, including Construction Managers, Project Engineers, Quality Managers, and Safety Managers.
• Maintain a professional demeanor in client interactions.
• Facilitate communication among clients, engineers, subcontractors, and vendors on project-related matters.
• Champion the Corporate Safety Plan and develop a tailored site-specific safety plan.
• Monitor project completion and schedule progress to identify and resolve productivity issues.
• Review work plans and ensure site quality standards are met.
• Guide Superintendents in managing labor costs effectively.
• Conduct Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and train staff on completing these correctly.
• Lead safety meetings, toolbox talks, and training sessions.
• Coordinate material deliveries and track procurement progress.
• Plan and schedule project workgroups on site.
• Review material takeoffs from blueprints and other documentation.
• Support field operations with engineering calculations and technical drafting as needed.
• Review and approve construction submittals and any major field purchase orders.
• Manage subcontractors and field support to ensure compliance with project standards.
• Maintain thorough project documentation and correspondence, including daily reports and RFIs.
• Develop and oversee project control measures like labor tracking and scheduling.
• Assist in the creation and maintenance of the master project schedule.
• Approve and negotiate change orders to contracts.
• Facilitate the planning process through various scheduling techniques.
• Assist with job cost updates and accounting processes.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
• Lead a team of 10 or more direct reports, managing up to 500 project employees within various departments.

Qualifications:
• Must possess a bachelor’s degree in engineering or construction management.
• Experience in heavy industrial construction, especially in fossil power generation and manufacturing sectors, is required.
• At least 11 years of construction field experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• In-depth knowledge of health and safety regulations.
• Active participation in daily toolbox meetings and setting a personal example of safe behavior.
• Ability to analyze and resolve discrepancies in engineering and contract documents.
• Offer cost-saving alternatives and improve project constructability during design and construction phases.
• Willingness to work in varied climates and environments.
• Strong commitment to ethics and safety, leading teams towards achieving project goals.
• Ability to delegate tasks and support team members as necessary.

• Ability to work 12-hour shifts under physically demanding conditions.
• Capability to manage heavy lifting and moving in a dynamic work environment.
• Adaptability to change in weather and site conditions.
• Requirements to wear necessary personal protective equipment.
• Ability to navigate confined and uneven areas and work at heights as needed.
