Senior Surveyor – Team Lead
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Surveyor – Team Lead to join our Tauranga team. This is a key role where you’ll provide technical expertise, lead and develop a talented survey team, and work closely with clients to deliver high‑quality surveying services across a diverse range of projects. You’ll play a pivotal role in growing the local surveying capability, supporting projects across the region and nationally, and helping position the business as a consultant of choice in the Bay of Plenty.
Key Responsibilities
Lead, mentor and develop a team of survey professionals, fostering a strong and collaborative team culture
Allocate work, support performance and contribute to recruitment, training and retention initiatives
Provide senior technical leadership across a wide range of surveying projects
Undertake and oversee field and office surveying work, including land transfer, engineering set‑out, topographical, boundary and as‑built surveys
Project manage surveying and civil projects, ensuring quality, budget and programme requirements are met
Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external clients
Identify and support new work opportunities in Tauranga and surrounding areas
Ensure all work is delivered in line with relevant standards, legislation, codes of practice and safety requirements
About You
A relevant surveying qualification (Bachelor’s degree or Diploma)
Significant professional experience (typically 10+ years) in surveying or a related discipline
A confident technical leader with a strong surveying background and a passion for developing others.
Proven experience leading or mentoring survey teams
Strong technical capability across field and office surveying practices
Experience using surveying and design software such as 12d, Trimble Business Centre and/or Civil 3D
Solid project management skills and commercial awareness
Excellent communication skills and a client‑focused mindset
