Are you ready to shine?

At Westpac , our Data Platforms (DP) teams are building modern, cloud‑native data and AI‑ready capabilities that unlock meaningful value for our customers, colleagues and the Group. We design and deliver secure, resilient and responsive data platforms that enable faster decision‑making, smarter products, and responsible innovation at scale.

As a Service Owner , you’ll sit at the intersection of technology, data, AI and business outcomes . You’ll be a trusted, consultative leader —connecting stakeholders, engineers and data specialists to turn strategy into tangible delivery. Balancing value, risk and resilience, you’ll ensure reliable outcomes while helping teams continuously evolve how they work.

You’ll partner across analytics, platform engineering and AI‑enabled delivery , keeping squad’s outcome‑focused and stakeholders aligned. This role suits a hands‑on delivery leader who thrives in complex enterprise environments and enjoys shaping both what we deliver and how we deliver it .

You’ll lead the delivery of epics alongside engineers and data specialists, contribute to shaping the product roadmap, and align diverse stakeholders around a shared vision that delivers measurable customer and business impact.

Key responsibilities …

Build strong, trusted relationships with business stakeholders to understand quarterly and annual priorities and co‑create aligned product roadmaps.
Partner with Scrum teams to ensure we build the right solutions, at the right time, in the right way , with a strong focus on engineering quality and sustainable delivery.
Inspire teams with a clear product vision and sense of purpose, enabling continuous delivery of incremental value.
Translate strategic requirements into value‑driven features and user stories that deliver meaningful business outcomes.
Define, track and communicate organisational and business outcomes, including value, health and performance metrics.
Own, prioritise and continuously refine the product backlog, setting clear sprint and release goals aligned to strategy.
Lead through influence—empowering teams to be self‑organising while actively contributing as a servant leader.
Work closely with Scrum Masters to remove impediments, improve flow and role‑model modern agile practices.
Provide thought leadership across the Service Owner / Product Owner community , sharing knowledge and lifting capability.
Champion the use of data, analytics and AI to enable customer‑centric outcomes and new business opportunities.
Align delivery, mindset and culture with Westpac’s Purpose, Values and Behaviours , fostering psychological safety and inclusion.
Encourage thoughtful decision‑making by asking both “can we?” and “should we?” , with accountability and integrity.
Key ingredients for success …

Strong experience delivering data platform products in large‑scale environments, with a genuine passion for the value data and AI can unlock.
Solid experience and familiarity with Mortgage and Business Lending are preferred.
Proven delivery leadership across cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS or GCP.
Solid understanding of data, platform and program governance—leading by example with pragmatism and transparency.
A growth mindset: open to feedback, curious about new ideas, and comfortable navigating ambiguity in fast‑moving environments.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple squads, programs and initiatives concurrently, using structured prioritisation across diverse stakeholders.
Deep experience working in Agile environments , including leading distributed and cross‑functional teams with diverse perspectives.
Strong capability with JIRA and Confluence , alongside excellent written and verbal communication skills.
A forward‑looking view of AI in the enterprise , with enthusiasm for the evolving intersection of data platforms and AI‑enabled delivery.
