An exciting opportunity has become available at NRG Riverside within our Leeds depot and we are looking for an experienced Shift Controller/ Supervisor to join the team and help us on our journey to growth. In this role, you will be responsible for the supervision of workshop staff as well as the service and repair of a wide variety of vehicles including refuse trucks. Specialist training will be provided where needed, to develop your existing skills to support our specialist assets. What candidate are we looking for?
Experience within a role such as Workshop Manager, Supervisor, Foreman, Shift Controller
Experience of the management of HGV Technician/ Mechanic/ Workshop staff
HGV technical/ mechanical experience
Experience in the Waste/Recycling industry would be great, but not essential
Municipal experience preferred
Repairs and wheel alignment
HGV Technical qualification - NVQ or City and Guilds equivalent.
Class 2 licence preferred.
Experience of working in a similar role with an understanding of the HGV industry.
Excellent customer service.
Great team player whilst also able to work on own initiative.
Experience in the Waste/Recycling industry would be great, but not essential.
Awareness and understanding of Health and Safety practices.
What will be your duties?
Management and supervision of night shift workshop staff including technicians
Responsible for work delegation, ensuring maximum productivity throughout the workshop
Ability to respond to customer demands and effectively direct workshop staff as necessary
Lead from the front, operating as a HGV Technician where required
Undertake MOT inspections & final quality inspections ahead of all final test
Coaching and development of workshop staff so that they are effective in achieving right first-time fix
Ensuring workshop staff are aware of and adhere to health and safety legislation
Adhere to quality standards and monitoring including monitoring of vehicle repair process, technician repair process and shift controller repair process
Keep a consistently high-level of customer care throughout the workshop through effective line management, adhering to SLAs, and maintaining VOR tracker reports
Monitoring financial management and operational costs
