Temporary (30 Jun 2026) full-time opportunity
Office location – Parramatta or DCCEEW regional office location
Salary relative to experience and ranges from $120,701 to $134,460+ Super


About the role

The NSW Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW) is seeking a Senior Project Officer Program Support to join our Saving our Species (SoS) team.

Do you enjoy managing complex projects to get great outcomes for threatened species? Would you like the opportunity to support the delivery of the NSW Government’s state-wide threatened species program?

As Senior Project Officer Program Support, you will work directly with the SoS Program Manager to coordinate and lead the development, implementation and evaluation of the Saving our Species program. This includes working with teams across the state to support program delivery and evaluation, monitoring and reporting on program-wide budgets, providing secretariat support for program governing bodies, and leading strategic or complex projects to achieve program objectives.


About You

The role functions with a degree of independence under the framework of the established performance and development plan, making decisions within the scope of its delegated authority. The individual in this role is responsible for completing assigned tasks and receives guidance from their supervisor or manager on work priorities, complex issues, and matters requiring higher-level decisions.



Key knowledge and experience

Proficient understanding of the operation of State government and environmental legislation and policy as relevant to the delivery of threatened species conservation programs.
Experienced in project management, including risk management frameworks
Experienced in budget management with a focus on financial accountabilities and reporting
Knowledge of and experience in evaluation of strategic and/or complex conservation programs or projects.
Extensive experience in stakeholder management including consultation, negotiation and collaboration with a broad range of stakeholders across a range of teams and divisions who may have diverse priorities, expectations and structures.

Essential requirements

Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline and/or equivalent experience such as natural resource management or science
