Overview
The SOAR Centre provides a peer-to-peer support service for higher degree by research (HDR) and honours candidates.
The centre is run by 10 higher degree by research candidates who offer one-to-one and group support in research skills and professional development.
Responsibilities
Provide peer-to-peer support through in-person and online sessions, including software troubleshooting, mentoring, and referencing support.
Facilitate small group workshops on research and professional skills.
Provide peers with information about services at ECU to facilitate their experience.
Create online resources from workshops in Canvas and the Research Student Facebook page.
Support peers in cultural and academic transition to life as a research candidate.
Represent the SOAR Centre at events such as orientation week and school inductions.
Requirements
Candidates must be proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Office 365, and Teams.
Knowledge of NVivo or Qualtrics is an advantage.

Benefits & Remuneration
Casual positions attract $42.03 per hour plus 11.5% University superannuation contribution.
Typically, SOAR peer advisers are offered one 4-hour shift per week for approximately 1+ weeks per semester.
