Job Description
About Loadscreen
Loadscreen operates across live broadcast, media production, and technical services within the gaming and esports industry. We work with publishers, tournament organisers, brands, and creators to deliver reliable, scalable systems for live shows and high-pressure production environments.
The Role
We're building for a talented engineer who help extend, maintain, and scale a open source data/project management platform. You'll work directly with our team to ship real features used daily by business stakeholders.
This role is focused on systems, logic, and data flow - not visual design. You'll be responsible for building clean, well-structured plugins and backend logic that our internal teams can seamlessly work with. A separate team handles the business process side; you own everything underneath it.
This is a great fit for a JavaScript developer who enjoys building real-world internal tools and wants their work to have immediate, visible impact.
Key Responsibilities
Build and maintain custom plugins and extensions for our internal low-code platform
Develop backend logic in JavaScript / TypeScript (Node.js)
Create reusable frameworks that support internal dashboards and workflows
Manage data flow between modules, APIs, and external data sources (e.g.webhook)
Collaborate with operations and business teams to translate requirements into working solutions
Support and troubleshoot platform stability and data integrity
Document systems and handoff processes clearly for the broader team
Required Skills & Experience
Strong experience with JavaScript / TypeScript (Node.js)
Strong experience with React and modern frontend development
Solid understanding of REST API design, data modeling, and backend architecture
Proficiency with Git and GitHub workflows (branches, PRs, code reviews)
Basic understanding of Docker for local development and environment setup
Experience working with relational databases (e.g. schema design), preferably PostgreSQL
Experience building or customizing open-source platforms or internal tools
Comfortable working independently in a fast-moving, scrappy environment
Clear communicator
Nice to Have
Experience working with operations, sales, or business teams
Contributed to or maintained an open-source project
A link to your GitHub profile or relevant repositories is not required but strongly encouraged

Estimated rate: equivalent to $20–$40 CAD per hour
Flexible hours: typically 5–20 hours per week, depending on projects and events
Contractors invoice monthly based on hours worked
Opportunity for ongoing work across multiple productions
Why Work With Us
Work on a real platform used daily by a fast-growing team
Direct access to leadership, your input genuinely shapes the product
Flexible, async-friendly working style
