Solicitor or senior solicitor – corporate and commercial
Office: Wellington
The opportunity
Join Buddle Findlay’s leading corporate and commercial team in Wellington and work alongside some of New Zealand’s top legal talent. You will join a high-performing team led by partners Renee Stiles , Amy Ryburn , and Rupert Rouch where you will work on impactful matters and build strong relationships with dynamic, influential clients. You will have 3-6 years PQE and be looking for your next career opportunity within our top tier commercial law firm.
The role
As a valued member of our team, you’ll be trusted to support and lead complex legal work across a broad spectrum of corporate and commercial work. You’re a collaborative team player who thrives on building strong client relationships and lifting those around you, but you’re equally comfortable taking full ownership of files and delivering high‑quality, commercially focused advice independently. You influence outcomes with clear, confident communication and sound judgement, mentor junior lawyers with patience and pragmatism, and act with integrity, resilience and a solutions‑orientated mindset.
Opportunities for you to get involved in:
Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide range of commercial contracts, including technology, procurement, outsourcing, and partnership agreements
Providing legal advice on regulatory compliance, payments, privacy, data protection, and intellectual property
Assisting on corporate transactions such as mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, capital raising, and general corporate matters
Conducting legal research and preparing clear, practical advice for clients across a variety of industries, including major corporates, financial institutions, government agencies, and start-ups
Building and maintaining strong client relationships through effective communication and a solutions-focused approach
Collaborating with partners and senior lawyers on complex projects and high-profile transactions
