SWAT also has the Legal Resource Team which owns, drafts and keeps up to date most of the legal information on the Legal Aid NSW website. The team works flexibly with most staff working predominantly from home.

About The Role

As the Solicitor in Charge for the Statewide Advice Team (SWAT), you will lead a high-performing hybrid team to deliver telephone legal advice across diverse client groups and legal areas. Your responsibilities will include developing innovative legal resources, ensuring client-responsive services, and supporting a well-trained team aligned with the Client Service Model.

This role involves cultivating strong relationships with stakeholders, including LawAccess NSW, regional offices, and legal assistance providers, to enhance access to justice across NSW.

Based in Parramatta with flexible hybrid work arrangements, this role is perfect for someone with expertise in Family, Crime, or Civil law, looking to step away from face-to-face clinical work and embrace innovative, client-focused service delivery in a high-volume, cross-practice environment.

This role is currently available till the end of August 2025, with possibility to be extended and/or made ongoing.

We may use this recruitment to create a talent pool for similar ongoing or temporary vacancies we have over the next 18 months.

About You

You will be an experienced legal practitioner who has supervised high volume legal advice clinics before. Being an experienced manager, you will be confident to supervise a cross-jurisdictional team, embedding quality assurance, professional development and well-being activities in the day to day running of the team. You are a person passionate about quality client service and excellence in staff engagement.

Innovative and adaptable, you respond effectively to the evolving needs of both the SWAT and the organisation, identifying opportunities to improve policies and processes for enhanced service delivery. You will collaborate with frontline teams to streamline client flows into legal advice, working across the management team to optimise the client experience.
