Job description
Roles and Responsibilities
• Research and Trend Analysis:
• Stay updated on current fashion trends, market demands, and customer preferences.
• Conduct market research to identify new opportunities for designs and product lines.
• Design Development:
• Create original clothing designs.
• Sketch designs by hand or use computer software .Proficiency in latest design software.
• Develop mood boards, color palettes, and fabric selections.
• Prototyping:
• Produce initial garment samples and prototypes.
• Work with patternmakers and garment technologists to ensure designs can be accurately translated into physical products.
• Fabric and Material Selection:
• Choose appropriate fabrics, materials, and trims for each design.
• Coordinate with suppliers to source high-quality materials.
• Technical Specifications:
• Prepare detailed technical specifications for each design, including measurements, construction details, and finishing techniques.
• Create tech packs for production.
• Collaboration and Communication:
• Work closely with other departments such as marketing, sales, and production.
• Communicate design concepts and requirements to manufacturers and suppliers.
• Production Oversight:
• Oversee the production process to ensure designs are manufactured according to specifications.
• Conduct fittings and make necessary adjustments to prototypes and final products.
• Quality Control:
• Ensure the quality and consistency of finished products.
• Address any issues related to garment construction, fit, or materials.
• Cost Management:
• Develop cost-effective designs that meet budget constraints.
• Brand Development:
• Contribute to the development and maintenance of the brand's image and identity.
• Create cohesive collections that align with the brand’s vision and target audience.
• Presentation and Sales Support:
• Present new designs and collections to buyers, retailers, and fashion show audiences.
• Support marketing and sales teams with promotional materials and information.

Skills and Qualifications
• Creativity and Artistic Skills: Strong creative vision and artistic ability.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in design software like Adobe Illustrator and CAD.
• Attention to Detail: Keen eye for detail in design and construction.
• Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
• Time Management: Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
• Knowledge of Fabrics and Materials: Understanding of different types of fabrics, their properties, and how they can be used in design.
• Business Acumen: Awareness of market trends, consumer behavior, and business strategies.
• Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot design and production issues effectively.
