About the Job:

The purpose of this role is to be a key support to the Group General Counsel by providing advice and independently manage a wide range of legal activities including litigation management, commercial transactions, legal risk management and legal documentation. Proactively advise senior stakeholders on key commercial and legal risks in high value, complex contracts, litigations and transactions.

Impact this role will make:
• Litigation Management: Manage entire lifecycle of litigations from evaluation/strategy till appeal, draft and finalize pleadings, submissions etc., manage external counsel, strategize towards closure/settlement of existing disputes, representation before courts, tribunals, arbitration or mediation as necessary.
• Commercial Transactions: Work on diverse transactions across multiple jurisdictions (often-cross border) including merger and acquisition, treasury related transactions, draft and negotiate the key transactional documents, control of due diligence and manage projects to a budget.
• Risk Management: Identify and highlight legal risks and strategize to mitigate them. Periodically update the senior management on the status of cases, potential risks and any change required in strategy.
• Legal Compliance: Identify key legal issues and ensure that the legal strategies are aligned with broader business goals.
• Augment legal advice/ opinion for cross-functional and cross jurisdictional transactions to derive value for business.
• Advise the Company on matters of Company governance and policy.

The ideal candidate:
• A degree in law from a reputed institution having post qualification experience of 6-9 years in a law firm/in-house in fields of litigation/dispute resolution, M&A, commercial transactions, investments and debt financing
• Familiarity with a wide variety of transaction types (e.g., public company, private company, joint venture, share purchase, asset purchase, capital raises, bond issuances cross-border, etc.)
• Must be able to work autonomously on deals with limited supervision and have credible experience of doing so
• Experience mix of corporate and law firm is desirable
• Sound understanding of business practices, corporate governance and reputation risk
• Excellent communication & interpersonal skills and ability to work under pressure and within tight timelines
