Reports To: Manager, Software Development
Overview:
As a Senior Software Engineer I in a product development organization, you will be part of the team that designs and develops cloud applications in the Data Quality domain. You will collaborate with architects, product managers, and other software developers for developing product features. You are expected to be hands-on in Java and up to date with the latest development technologies such as REST API and Cloud Applications.
Responsibilities:
As a Senior Software Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in the development and enhancement of our software products.
Your responsibilities will include:
• Contributing to development of the codebase, focusing on key functionalities of the application.
• Collaborating with technical staff to troubleshoot software issues independently, incorporating suggestions for enhancements and improvements.
• Engaging in the design phase of applications, ensuring robust and scalable architectures.
• Conducting code reviews and assisting in refining engineering processes while contributing to the development of software user manuals.
• Improving code quality and addressing Non-Functional Requirements such as performance, security, scalability, and reliability.
• Participating in technical designs, offering constructive feedback, and incorporating ideas and solutions.
• Collaborating with team members to address internal and external customer issues promptly and effectively.
Core Java (OOP, functions, exception handling, differences across Java 7, 21, 22)
Spring Boot & Microservices
API Development (REST APIs, Kafka integration)
Data Structures & Algorithms (arrays, stacks, analytical problem-solving)
Database Knowledge (primary key vs. unique key, schema design)
System Design & Scalability (large job volume handling, OOM risk management, design considerations)
Analytical & Critical Thinking (depth in reasoning, follow-up questioning, clarity of approach)
Hands-on Implementation (practical backend design, applying best practices)
Professional Practices (avoiding external/unfair help, consistent design-level thinking)
Requirements:
• 6+ years of experience in the software industry with a proven track record in product development.
• Bachelor’s degree (BE/BTech/MCA or equivalent) in Computer Science or a related technical field from a reputable institution.
• Proficiency in Design Patterns and Architectural Patterns with practical application experience.
• Expertise in Java and Spring boot for backend development; familiarity with frontend scripting languages such as Node.js and React.js is a plus.
• Solid understanding and experience with databases, particularly Mongo Atlas, and developing/consuming REST APIs.
• Exposure to cloud-native technologies including Docker, Kubernetes, Kafka, and microservices architecture is highly desirable.
• Basic understanding of agile and scrum methodologies is a must.
• Experience of AWS/Azure/GCP, Redis, Security Domain, Datadog, Code fresh, hands on Terraform will be advantageous
• Familiarity with Databricks and Snowflake is a plus.
