Staff Accountant Client Accounting Services

We are Varney & Associates, CPAs, a leading accounting firm with a strong reputation for excellence. We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our Client Accounting Services team.
Key Responsibilities
The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in accounting and a passion for working with a team. Key responsibilities include:
Preparing and reviewing general ledger transactions, month-end close activities, and initial financial statements.
Processing payroll, including entering payroll data, reviewing timesheets, ensuring timely payments and quarterly and annual payroll tax returns and forms.
Completing routine, recurring, repetitive accounting tasks using standardized procedures and checklists, ensuring consistency, quality, and timely completion.
Completing reconciliations for bank, credit card, and loan accounts, and maintaining fixed asset schedules.
Documenting client procedures.
Utilizing accounting software and assisting with anomaly detection and workflow management.
Suggesting process improvements and staying updated on best practices and fraud prevention.
Requirements & Qualifications
To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate will have:
A Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field.
Familiarity with basic accounting principles and technology.
Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in work.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Nonprofit accounting or related experience a plus.
