JOB SUMMARY:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Staff Accountant to support the overall accounting functions of JHL Constructors. The Staff Accountant will play a vital role in the finance department and should have a solid understanding of GAAP. The Staff Accountant needs to be analytical and detail oriented, be able to apply critical thinking skills, perform research when necessary and identify opportunities to enhance processes.
REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Core Duties / Responsibilities:
• Prepare and record journal entries to include, fixed asset activity, equity activity, job allocation entries, accruals, etc.
• Manage expense reporting software and process including assisting with employee questions, reporting, and importing data into the accounting system.
• Assist with the AR process including creating manual invoices and reviewing and preparing backup for billings and following up on past due balances.
• Creating intercompany billings.
• Assist with AR and AP questions and problem solving.
• Setting up AP vendors in the accounting system.
• Assist in the monthly financial close.
• Work cross-functionally with other departments to increase accounting and financial reporting accuracy, including preparing various ad hoc reporting.
• Support the year-end audit and tax returns preparations and respond to audit related inquiries.
• Assist with special projects and initiatives of both the company and department.
Education / Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting from an accredited university.
• 1 or more years of accounting experience
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:
• Solid understanding of GAAP.
• Experience in construction accounting is a plus but not required.
• Public accounting experience is a plus but not required.
• Intermediate level of computer skills.
• Intermediate excel skills including the ability to analyze data and create reports.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, work well under strict time schedules, and behave in a professional manner.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
