Staff Accountant - LAW FIRM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

We are looking for a Staff Accountant who will work with our organization regarding our accounting and tax needs. This role can be remote (with very limited quarterly travel) for candidates with previous law firm accounting experience. Applicants who are local to one of our offices in either Louisville or Lexington, Kentucky, will have more flexibility on that requirement.
SKILLS AND TRAITS YOU BRING TO THE ROLE
• Track cash flow and develop cash forecasts.
• Manage and control Cost Centers within the practice.
• Prepare monthly balance sheets, income statements, and profit and loss statements.
• Proficiency knowledge of all aspects of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
• Code invoices, set up new accounts, reconcile accounts, and close the monthly books.
• File tax forms with federal, state, and local government agencies.
• Coordinate with software vendor to maintain accounting software systems; recommends updates to enhance the accounting software.
• Reconcile bank accounts at least monthly, verifies deposits, and addresses inquiries from banks.
• Reconcile cash disbursement accounts, payroll, customer accounts, and other financial accounts; manages accounts receivable collections.
• Verify and/or completes payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensures payments are charged to the appropriate accounts.
• Oversee regulatory reporting, frequently including tax planning and compliance.
• Outstanding time management, computer, and organizational skills with the ability to plan, manage, and execute multiple projects simultaneously.
• Self-motivated worker who takes ownership of projects from beginning to end to accomplish goals and meet deadlines.
• A servant-leader attitude with strong work ethic, positive outlook, and empathy for others.
• Must possess solid communication, technology, analytical and management skills.
• Superb people skills with ability to manage all types of people and situations.
• Assist with compliance contract agreements.
• Previous law firm accounting experience highly preferred.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance is required.
• 2+ years of experience in a dedicated finance or accounting position
• 2+ years of experience in the following industries: finance, accounting, law, business organizations.
• Must have hands-on experience with both AP and AR
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office – PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and QuickBooks Online.
• Superlative organization skills with a focus on the fine details.
• Capacity to use tact and professionalism including in times of extreme stress.
• Ability to work effectively under tight deadlines and manage projects independently.
• Excellent people skills and an upbeat and enthusiastic attitude.
