Description
We are offering an exciting opportunity in the transport industry for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant in New Orleans, Louisiana. The chosen candidate will be responsible for a range of accounting duties, including maintaining accurate financial records and conducting account analysis. This role requires a thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
Responsibilities
• Apply a thorough understanding of GAAP in daily tasks
• Utilize intermediate analytical and accounting skills to maintain financial records
• Use MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Outlook or similar programs for data analysis and reporting
• Work independently and effectively in a team environment
• Collaborate closely with others, demonstrating a positive attitude and a willingness to help others
• Represent the team in a professional and positive manner
• Work well under pressure and meet deadlines
• Comply with all company policies and procedures
• Demonstrate good communication skills, both written and oral
• Exhibit good organizational skills and attention to detail
• Perform account reconciliation and account analysis tasks as required.

Requirements
• A minimum of 2 years of experience in a Staff Accountant role or similar position
• Degree in Accounting required and CPA candidate preferred
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting
• Demonstrable experience in Account Reconciliation and Account Analysis
• Solid understanding of GAAP Accounting principles and practices
• Excellent organizational skills, with an ability to prioritize important projects
• Strong quantitative and analytical skills and the ability to interpret financial data
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively with different levels of employees
• Superior attention to detail and an affinity for numbers
• Ability to maintain the highest levels of confidentiality regarding business-related files, reports and conversations
• Willingness to continuously improve and adapt to changing role requirements
• Appropriate certification (e.g. CMA, CPA) is a plus.
