Staff Accountant - Agriculture

Key Responsibilities
• Tax Preparation: Assist in preparing federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals and entities within the agricultural sector, including partnerships and corporations.
• Client Engagement: Collaborate with clients to gather necessary financial data and ensure accurate and timely tax filings. Respond to client inquiries and provide support during the tax season.
• Compliance: Ensure compliance with all applicable tax laws and regulations, keeping up to date with changes in tax legislation relevant to the agricultural industry.
• Documentation: Maintain organized and accurate records of tax filings, client communications, and other essential documentation.
• Research: Conduct basic research on tax issues affecting the agricultural industry, including deductions, credits, and other tax-saving opportunities.
• Team Collaboration: Work closely with senior accountants and managers to support various tax projects and initiatives.
• Professional Development: Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance tax knowledge and skills.
Skills & Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, or a related field
• CPA eligibility preferred; intention to pursue CPA certification is a plus.
• Previous internship or experience in tax accounting is required. Familiarity with the agricultural sector is a plus.
• Proficiency in Windows-based computers, Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook), Experience using QuickBooks is a plus.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Build and maintain smooth working relationships with clients and team members. Display professionalism, reliability, and integrity.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines. Demonstrated ability to perform several tasks concurrently with ease and professionalism.
• Strong leadership and team management skills. Ability to work independently but also collaborate as a team with owners and staff.
• Highly motivated individual with the ability to multitask and complete assignments within budget and deadlines.
