WHO YOU ARE...
As a Staff Accountant, you will report to the Controller and work closely with the rest of the accounting team to elevate the accounting function here at Maxwell. You’ll assist with processing payroll and accounts payable, manage the team’s communications and filing, and drive best-in-class accounting processes and internal controls, among other fun accounting things. The right person will knock out our regular daily and monthly activities but also enjoy taking on new projects and challenges to help move the accounting/finance function and organization as a whole forward. Lots of opportunities to expand on your current skills and learn new ones.
Max'ers work at least 2 days a week in our corporate office located in beautiful Denver, Colorado so you'll want to live within a comfortable commuting distance.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING…
• Own accounts payable responsibilities and expense reconciliations
• Own the Accounting team’s administrative functions, such as managing the Accounting inbox and organization, maintenance, and filing of the shared Google Drive
• Manage federal, state, and local employment tax accounts to ensure compliance and regulatory requirements are met
• Support and accelerate the month end close process and financial reporting
• Support audits (401k, state/local, and year end financial statement)
• Support the continued development of the company’s accounting policies and procedures including making the accounting process more efficient
• Support various ad-hoc analyses, process improvement, and workflow documentation
• Drive alignment of systems (QBO, Salesforce, Recurly)
• Collaborate closely with the Finance and PeopleOps teams
IDEALLY YOU’LL HAVE...
• 1 - 3 years of experience in accounting
• Organized, high attention to detail, ability to communicate and collaborate within a team environment
• Excellent understanding of accounting principles (US GAAP) and experience in applying principles in practice
• Must have hands on experience with Quickbooks Online (multiple ledgers) and Rippling
• Experience with the following tools or comparable tools: Google Suite, Slack, Zoom, Salesforce
• Intellectual curiosity and desire to find solutions independently
