Summary
Reporting to the Director of Tax and working closely with the International Senior Tax Analyst, you will be responsible for assisting in the completion of certain of Saltchuk’s corporate income tax compliance and reporting requirements. With a focus on state and international income tax, such requirements include federal, state, and foreign income tax returns, state apportionment, tax research, transfer pricing, and special projects.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Prepare state apportionment workpapers and other workpapers that go into the filing of over 140 state income and franchise tax filings.
Review state tax returns prepared by third party.
Review and respond to state and international notices.
Obtain necessary information and prepare foreign tax returns, foreign reporting for federal (Form 5471, Form 8858, etc.), and state filings.
Assists team in additional federal and state reporting and compliance efforts as needed.
Assist with income tax provisions, monthly and quarterly estimated tax payments computations and tax account reconciliations.
Assist with identifying and implementing process improvements and procedures for the tax function.
Maintain awareness of tax law changes and updates.
Initiate timely action on technical, scheduling, and other problems and bring recommended solutions to the team.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field.
Masters in Taxation or LLM is preferred but not required.
CPA certification preferred.
Experience and Skills

2 years’ experience with a public accounting firm or corporate tax department.
Knowledge of corporate federal income tax, US international income tax concepts, and tax accounting principles. Foreign or State income tax experience, a plus.
Computer operation skills: advanced Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word skills, knowledge of Windows environment, and experience with tax return software such as OneSource. Experience with Alteryx, a plus.
Analytical thinking, problem solving, planning/organizing, decision-making, and follow-through.
Ability to pay attention to detail and produce an accurate and organized work product.
Ability to utilize existing procedures and suggest process improvements.
Ability to work independently on multiple assignments and under deadline pressure, ability to set priorities and schedule work, willingness to accept new responsibilities.
Strong skills in interpersonal relations, ability to work closely with others, ability to cooperate with others in a manner that recognizes the importance of teamwork in achieving company goals.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
