About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Staff Accountant to join our accounting team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, with a focus on credit unions or similar financial institutions.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain general ledger accounts and prepare journal entries to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with industry regulations.
Reconcile bank and investment accounts in a timely manner, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes, including preparing financial reports and statements in compliance with GAAP and NCUA regulations.
Support audits and regulatory examinations by providing accurate and timely financial information.
Process monthly fixed assets and prepaid items and entries, maintaining accurate records and adherence to internal controls.
Analyze financial data to identify trends and variances, enabling data-driven decision making.
Ensure compliance with internal controls, policies, and procedures, maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Qualifications
Minimum 2 years of accounting experience, preferably in a credit union or banking environment.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
High attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills, with ability to work independently and as part of a team.
