Job Description
Amazon's AWS Legal Department is seeking a skilled and experienced public sector lawyer to support the company's dealings with Indian government customers. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work with a dynamic team and leverage your expertise in negotiating technology licensing agreements, supporting compliance activities, and advising on new programs and solutions for government entities and commercial organizations operating in the public sector.

Job Responsibilities
• Negotiating technology licensing agreements with government customers or other public sector entities
• Supporting compliance activities and advising on new programs and solutions
• Providing ongoing legal counsel and contract interpretation for business leaders
• Analyzing and resolving contract issues
We are looking for a fast learner who is detail-oriented and capable of working independently while making decisions in ambiguous situations. The ideal candidate should be enthusiastic about technology, enjoy challenging work, possess strong written and oral communication skills, and demonstrate sound judgment.
Requirements
• Law degree (J.D. or equivalent) from a leading law school
• Licensed to practice law in India and/or the US, UK, or other recognized jurisdictions
• 7+ years of legal experience (more experienced candidates are encouraged to apply)
• Professional-level fluency in English, both written and spoken
• Transactional drafting and negotiation experience gained at a leading law firm and/or in-house at a major multinational corporation
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Experience negotiating and drafting technology licensing agreements with government customers or other public sector entities
• Familiarity with IT/technology licensing, outsourcing, and services agreements
• Understanding of intellectual property, competition, and privacy issues
• Associate Membership (ACS) with the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI), with a current valid membership
