Working as a placement student in a team of brilliant software engineers you will use your knowledge and skills to contribute towards the development of signal and spectrum analyser applications and related software. You will experience the full software lifecycle including design, development and testing in a dynamic, fast paced and supportive work environment.
Timescales: The industry placement will start at the beginning of July 2026 and run for 12 months to the end of June 2026.
First interviews planned end of November - at the moment we are assuming 25th November.
Your Tasks
As a member of our 3GPP 5G Conformance team, you will be responsible for supporting the design and implementation of specific 3GPP 5G protocol conformance features and toolsets, as assigned by the project leader. Your key responsibilities will include:
• Investigating and resolving customer requests related to 3GPP 5G protocol conformance
• Learning about the development of complex software applications using C++ and Python, and the strategies used for testing those applications
• Collaborating with industry experts in the UK and Germany to gain knowledge of AI/ML, wireless communications technologies, and RF engineering
• Gaining hands-on experience with AI/ML and its application in development and customer projects
• Contributing to the 5G standardization process through close collaboration with 3GPP experts
• Participating in ongoing process improvement initiatives within the team
Your Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need:
• To be studying for a degree in electronic engineering, computer science, AI/ML, or a related STEM field with programming modules
• Some knowledge of object-oriented programming (e.g., C++ or similar)
• Experience in real-time software development
• Some understanding of wireless telecommunications
• Some understanding of AI/ML
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
