Position Title: Summer Art Camp Counsellor (Term Position)
Department: Indigenous Ways & Partnerships
Reports to: Camp Director and Indigenous Education Coordinator
Classification: Term
Location: On-site, Winnipeg, MB
Salary: $20.21 per hour (up to 35 hours/week)
Term: July 2 to August 28, 2026
Hours of Work: Up to 35 hours per week
Position Summary
The Summer Art Camp Counsellor supports the organization and facilitation of WAG‑Qaumajuq’s Summer Art Camp programming. This role contributes to a high‑quality, professional, and enjoyable day camp experience for all participants while ensuring their safety and wellbeing. Working closely with the Summer Art Camp Director and other camp staff, the Counsellor helps deliver creative, theme‑based art activities and daily programming throughout the camp period.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver age‑appropriate daily educational art programming provided by the Summer Art Camp Director.
Facilitate daily activities, including visits to gallery exhibitions and art‑making projects connected to camp themes.
Be present for camper sign‑in and sign‑out and ensure proper pickup procedures are followed.
Ensure the safety and wellbeing of all camp participants at all times.
Support the Camp Director and other camp staff during activities as needed.
Meet ongoing expectations relating to equity and anti‑racism, including continuous learning, addressing personal biases, applying the anti‑racism policy, and engaging in equitable decision‑making.
Qualifications
Required:
Experience coordinating programs.
Experience working with children.
Art or craft experience.
Experience using art materials and strategies for looking at art.
Clear criminal record and Child Abuse Registry Check (can be processed through WAG‑Qaumajuq).
Assets:
CPR/First Aid certification.
Experience and passion for the visual arts.
Knowledge of French.
Additional Information
Must be able to move tables and chairs as needed.
Must be able to set up and clean up studio spaces.
Additional Funding Requirements
As this position may be partially funded, applicants must:
Be under 30 years of age; and be returning to post‑secondary education in the fall.
