Overview:
Hudson Valley Credit Union is currently recruiting for the position of Supervisor Litigation. Primary Function: Lead and manage a team of Litigation Specialists within the Credit Union’s Member Debt Solutions Department, with a focus on asset recovery, bankruptcy, and foreclosure. This role ensures the effective execution of legal collection strategies, overseeing day-to-day operations to drive successful loan repayments, reduce delinquency rates, and maximize recoveries. The Litigation Supervisor ensures team compliance with all applicable federal and state laws and regulations related to bankruptcy and foreclosure proceedings.
Responsibilities:
Monitor daily activities of Litigation Specialists through reviews and side-by-side coaching. Provides daily feedback to employees on litigation functions. Model during daily interactions by setting the example, outlining clear and attainable expectations and closely monitoring key performance metrics of direct reports.
Provide high level resource support to direct reports by maintaining a complete understanding of HVCU Litigation Specialist processes, policies and procedures. Handle member escalations to ensure member concerns are resolved properly.
Analyze data from multiple collection software and systems to assist in achieving preset, monthly delinquency and charge- off goals. Prepare month-end and quarter-end status reports as needed.
Act as back up for Specialists in critical functions as needed.
Interview, hire and evaluate Litigation Specialist employees. Coordinate new hire training and ensure employee training needs are met. Pursue development opportunities for staff to support the Credit Union’s goals and employee development.
Remain up to date on industry regulations and legal developments by attending relevant seminars, webinars, and training sessions, with a strong emphasis on changes in mortgage servicing regulations, federal and state bankruptcy laws, and foreclosure legislation.
Adhere to all Credit Union policies, procedures, and regulatory agency requirements. Participate in all required and recommended training and development including, but not limited to, Bank Secrecy Act training (BSA) and demonstrate attained knowledge. Participate on Credit Union teams, projects and strategic initiatives when the opportunity arises. Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.

Responsible for regular and predictable attendance including punctuality.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma, General Education Development (GED) certificate, or state authorized high school equivalent certificate; or a current high school senior in possession of a certificate of satisfactory academic standing required
Associate's Degree preferred
Paralegal certificate required
Fair Debt Collection Act Certification preferred
Minimum 2 Years legal collections experience required
Mimum 1 year supervisory or leadership experience in a financial institution required
