Job Description
Reporting to the Coordinator of Data & Applications, the Supervisor of Data & Applications supports innovation and continuous improvement of city services and processes through well-designed data and technologies.
The supervisor leads a high-performing team of designers, analysts, and programmers to select, implement, and support commercial and custom applications enabling service delivery for one or more city departments. The supervisor is responsible for management of data throughout its lifecycle along with supporting integration and analytics services.
As the Supervisor of Data & Applications, your duties will include:
Lead and develop high performing team and people.
Assist the Coordinator with management of data enabling departmental services.
Assist the Coordinator with the implementation and operation of applications enabling departmental services.
Assist the Coordinator with divisional financial planning, investment management, and contract management.
Your education and qualifications include:
Bachelor’s Degree in a management, business, or technology-focused discipline or equivalent education and experience.
4 years’ progressive experience in innovation or technology roles, including 2 years developing or supporting applications.
Experience with project management and change management methods, practices and procedures.
Experience leading, coaching, providing feedback, delegating, recruiting, and developing people is desired.
Financial management experience including financial planning, budgeting and financial monitoring is desired.
Comprehensive knowledge of application management and the software development life cycle.
Knowledge of modern information technology industry, best practices, trends, and applications.
Excellent written communication skills including the ability to write politically sensitive and confidential material for senior level staff.
Excellent verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate with all levels of the organization and with external stakeholders.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to maintain staff morale, foster, develop and maintain effective and positive working relationships with teams, partnerships and alliances.
Ability to create and promote a healthy and inclusive workplace culture.
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to be flexible and responsive to changing priorities and circumstances as well as the ability to work on diverse projects simultaneously.
Conditions of employment:
The successful applicant must maintain legal eligibility to work in Canada. If the successful applicant possesses a work permit, it is their responsibility to ensure the permit remains valid.
Completion of a Police Information Check, at candidate expense, satisfactory to the City of Winnipeg prior to finalization of employment offer.
