Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Ash Handling & Material Handling System Engineer with expertise in project management, bidding, estimation, and project costing. The candidate will be responsible for overseeing the design, execution, and commissioning of ash and bulk material handling systems in power plants, cement, and steel industries.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Engineering & Design:
• Develop and review technical specifications for ash handling and material handling systems.
• Evaluate system layouts, process flow diagrams (PFDs), and piping & instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs).
• Ensure compliance with industry standards (ASHRAE, NFPA, IS, and other relevant codes).
• Work with design teams to optimize conveyor systems, silos, hoppers, crushers, and pneumatic conveying systems.
2. Project Management:
• Lead and manage end-to-end project execution from planning to commissioning.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including procurement, site engineers, contractors, and clients.
• Ensure timely delivery of project milestones within the defined cost and quality parameters.
• Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation plans.
3. Bidding & Estimation:
• Prepare and review technical & commercial proposals for EPC projects.
• Analyze tender documents, BOQs (Bill of Quantities), and specifications.
• Develop cost estimation models and perform price benchmarking for competitive bidding.
• Liaise with procurement teams to get vendor quotes and evaluate supplier capabilities.
4. Project Costing & Budgeting:
• Develop and monitor project budgets, cash flow, and cost control measures.
• Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality and performance.
• Provide cost-benefit analysis and ROI calculations for different project alternatives.
5. Vendor & Client Coordination:
• Collaborate with vendors, contractors, and suppliers to ensure smooth project execution.
• Conduct technical discussions and negotiations with clients and stakeholders.
• Prepare and present project reports and documentation to senior management and clients.
Key Skills & Competencies:
✔️ Strong knowledge of ash handling (dry & wet) and bulk material handling systems.
✔️ Proficiency in project management tools (MS Project, Primavera, etc.).
✔️ Expertise in cost estimation, budgeting, and bidding processes.
✔️ Familiarity with mechanical equipment like conveyors, silos, dust collection systems, and pneumatic transport.
✔️ Hands-on experience with site execution and commissioning.
✔️ Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
✔️ Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
Qualifications:
• B.E./B.Tech/M.Tech in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
• PMP/Prince2 Certification (Preferred but not mandatory).
• Experience with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or other design software is an advantage.
Preferred Industry Experience:
• Power Plants (Thermal).
• Cement, Steel, or Mining Industry.
