Typically, you will be required to work from our Bristol office 1 to 2 days per week, with the choice to work either in the office or remotely on the remaining days.

In this key role, you will report to the Senior Tax Manager and be responsible for preparing and submitting both direct and indirect tax returns to HMRC. You will also support the Senior Tax Manager in maintaining a robust tax risk management framework for the business.

At Triodos, we recognise the importance of maintaining a healthy work-life balance and are dedicated to supporting our employees’ wellbeing. We offer a range of flexible working options, including part-time roles, varied working patterns, and a hybrid work environment. Please outline your preferred working pattern in your cover letter.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage all aspects of UK Corporation Tax and VAT, including accurate and timely completion and submission of computations, returns, payments, deferred tax, and partial exemption calculations
Maintain and update tax calculation spreadsheets; ensure reconciliations with internal and external records across all tax processes
Oversee compliance of business activities and policies with direct and indirect tax legislation, including VAT substantive testing
Lead on the preparation of tax notes for financial statements and annual Pay As You Earn Settlement Agreement returns, and drive process improvements in information collection

Monitor, and review Risk Control Self Assessments (RCSAs) for Corporation Tax and VAT, recommending process improvements and capturing risks, controls, and responsibilities
Advise on Expense and Credit Card policy compliance with HMRC requirements and provide technical VAT and Corporation Tax guidance across the business
Projects

Lead and contribute to tax-related projects, develop and deliver VAT and Corporation Tax training, and create tax guidance for Finance and wider teams
Other Duties

Conduct horizon scanning for changes in VAT or Corporation Tax legislation, assess business impacts, and keep tax knowledge current by sharing updates across the business

Experience in preparing both direct and indirect tax returns, including Corporation Tax and VAT, is essential, as is advanced knowledge of Excel.

Assessing tax risks and experience with VAT are key aspects of this role, and it would be highly beneficial if you have a proven track record in process improvement and implementing effective tax controls.

You should be comfortable interacting with multiple stakeholders across the Bank, able to independently assess technical tax queries, and present your findings in a clear and organised manner. Experience providing tax expertise to business-wide projects and process changes would also be advantageous.
