This is a permanent full-time position commencing Term 2, 2026

Hedland Senior High School (SHS), located in the Pilbara, is an Independent Public School catering for students from Year 7 to Year 12. The Role

Teachers in the Hedland SHS Science team are focused on creating outstanding outcomes for students and empowering every learner. We are a collaborative, supportive and close-knit team in a way that only a high-quality regional school can be. Our practice is data-driven to ensure improvement for our students. Collaborative practice is a key asset to our team’s success, and the applicant would need to be willing to learn from and share their experience with other members of the team.

The successful applicant will strive for excellence in Science teaching and demonstrate a desire to deliver a range of courses from Year 7 to 12. We offer a diverse range of senior school ATAR courses as well the Marine and Maritime Studies and Science in Practice courses in the general pathway. STEM is a key priority at our school, and our purpose designed facility is used to deliver high-level STEM courses.

Teachers and school administrators employed at Hedland Senior High School in 2026 are eligible to receive a temporary Attraction and Retention Incentive of $4 000 (pa, gross – to be adjusted pro rata for FTE and tenure). Eligible staff will receive a percentage of this payment on commencement at the school, with the remainder paid at the end of the school year. Staff must remain employed in the location until the end of the school year to be eligible to receive the second payment.

The temporary ARI payment is in addition to other incentives that may apply in this school.

Mobility appointments for permanent metropolitan and south west teachers

Eligible permanent teachers who hold a substantive teaching position in a North or South Education Region school, or a South West Education Region school* may elect to undertake this role as a 3-year mobility appointment, with a right of return to their substantive position. At the cessation of the 3-year mobility appointment, teachers can elect to return to their substantive role, or transfer permanently into this school.
