About The Role
WWT has been working to promote and deliver natural flood management (NFM) in the Thames catchment since 2026, demonstrating the power of this wetland nature-based solution to benefit both wildlife and people.

Working with our key project partner and funder Thames Regional Flood and Coastal Committee (ThRFCC), we have supported more than £1m of NFM delivery as well as providing expert advice to local authorities and other stakeholders and support to communities and landowners. There is now an opportunity to join this team as we enter the next phase of delivery to 2027.

You will work with key partners and stakeholders including the Thames Flood Advisers team at the Environment Agency and Catchment Partnerships across the Thames to develop and support delivery of a new suite of NFM projects across the catchment. This will include focusing on target areas where NFM can have the most impact as well as growing relationships with local authorities, community groups, landowners and others in order to deliver high quality NFM schemes.
You will have responsibility for ensuring WWT's project targets are delivered as well as managing the project budget and providing reports to internal and external committees as required. You will be responsible for ensuring that successes and updates from the project are communicated through external and internal channels whilst acting as an important source of knowledge to represent WWT to external audiences in the field of natural flood management and effectively brief others as needed.
This is a fixed-term contract until 31st March 2027, working 37.5 hours a week, Monday to Friday.
About You
This role will suit someone with good experience of managing projects and working effectively with partners including statutory agencies, local authorities, community groups and landowners.

In addition, you will be able to demonstrate the following:

Experience of working in natural flood management either from a practical or catchment management perspective
Understanding of the benefits that natural flood management brings to both wildlife and people.
Excellent written and oral communication skills and experience of writing project reports and delivering presentations.
Excellent planning, organisation and self-management skills to deliver work to agreed timescales and standards.
Excellent IT skills including use of Microsoft Office Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Experience in using GIS software (desirable).
This role could be based at our Slimbridge or London centres or could be based from home within the Thames catchment. If based at a centre, hybrid working is available in which case you will be expected to work from the office a minimum of one day per week.
