Job description
Thermal Engineer
We are seeking an experienced Thermal Engineer to serve as a Subject Matter Expert supporting advanced aerospace thermal protection systems. This hands-on role spans the full product lifecycle from concept development and modeling to hardware fabrication, testing, and production support.
You’ll work closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-performance thermal solutions for demanding operational environments.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop and correlate detailed thermal models for complex systems
• Design and analyze active/passive thermal protection hardware (including insulation systems and high-temperature materials)
• Lead thermal verification testing and support qualification campaigns
• Conduct thermo-mechanical trade studies and risk reduction efforts
• Support hardware fabrication, production, and cross-functional teams
• Prepare technical documentation and customer-facing presentations
Required Qualifications
• 4+ years of thermal engineering experience in aerospace or advanced engineering environments
• Strong background in heat transfer (radiation, conduction, convection)
• Experience with industry-standard thermal analysis tools
• Knowledge of space or mission thermal environments
• Proficiency in CAD and scripting tools (e.g., Python, MATLAB)
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or related field
Preferred
• Technical leadership or SME experience
• Thermal/mechanical test planning and execution
• Experience in production environments
• Advanced degree with thermal focus
