This is twice and even three times higher than companies usually have, including our competitors.We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Legal Operations Specialist to join our team in India. This role will be responsible for optimising and streamlining our legal processes, ensuring efficiency and compliance within the legal department.What will you do:Budget ManagementPlanning and Allocation: Develop, consolidate, and allocate the annual legal budget.Coordinate with department heads to understand budgetary needs and constraints.Expense Tracking and Analysis: Track, analyze, and forecast legal expenses to ensure adherence to the budget and identify cost-saving opportunities. Generate regular financial reports detailing budget performance and variancesCollaboration: Work with the finance team to ensure alignment on budgetary matters, financial reporting and any necessary adjustments.Vendor ManagementPurchase Requisitions: Handle purchase requisitions in ERP system, ensuring compliance with internal procedures and policies.Contract Management: Negotiate and manage contracts with external legal service providers.Vendor Onboarding: Oversee the onboarding of new vendors and ensure compliance with company policies and guidelines.Billing: Work with external law firms and vendors to resolve billing discrepancies and improve billing processes.Process ManagementEfficiency Improvement: Identify inefficiencies in current legal processes and recommend improvements.Implementation: Implement streamlined processes to enhance productivity, efficiency, and compliance.Monitoring: Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of process improvements.Knowledge ManagementSystem Maintenance: Maintain and update legal knowledge management systems with current documentation and information.Resource Development: Develop and maintain user-friendly templates, forms, and documents to facilitate legal operations.Access and Accuracy: Ensure the legal team has easy access to accurate and up-to-date resources and guidelines.Best Practices: Promote best practices for knowledge sharing within the legal department.Legal People & CultureTeam Culture: Foster a positive and collaborative culture within the legal team through events and team-building activities.Training Programs: Organize training and development programs for the legal team.Employee Engagement: Support initiatives to enhance employee engagement and professional growth.What we expect from you:Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Legal, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.Experience in a legal operations role or a similar operational capacity.Strong knowledge of financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting.Understanding of legal principles, practices, and terminology.Familiarity with enterprise resource planning systems (e.G., NetSuite, SAP, Oracle).Experience with legal technology software and tools (e.G., contract management systems, e-billing platforms, document automation tools, legal analytics tools).Proficiency in Excel and other data analysis tools.Analytical Thinking: Apply logical reasoning and critical thinking to analyze legal issues and make informed decisions.Attention to Detail: Maintain a high level of accuracy in managing legal documentation and processes.Multitasking: Manage multiple projects and tasks efficiently.Collaboration: Work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.Communication: Excel in verbal and written communication for effective collaboration.Problem-Solving: Demonstrate strong problem-solving abilities.Adaptability: Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.Time Management: Excellent time management skills to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.What we offer:Hybrid work scheduleStable salary, health insuranceUnlimited opportunities for professional and career growth, regular external and internal training from our partnersThe opportunity to become part of an international team of professionals who create one of the greatest success stories in the global IT industryInitial trainingProbation period up to 3 monthsWe offer you all the conditions for professional and personal growth with a rapidly growing tech company. Divisional Overview:Powai LCC broadly covers the areas of Legal, Compliance and Conduct, and is responsible for building a robust risk and control framework. The Powai LCC teams support Nomura Powai entities, as well as LCC teams globally to ensure effective risk management of Legal, Compliance and Conduct related risks for the firm. Powai Legal comprises of the Corporate Legal and Transaction Legal functions, which provide advice and support on corporate, employment and transactional matters. The Offshore Legal team supports global teams on corporate and secretarial matters, Global Markets, and Masters documentation related requirements. Powai Compliance comprises of functions such as Core Compliance, Trade Surveillance, Electronic Communication Surveillance, Financial Crime Monitoring, Control Room & Disclosure Monitoring and Employee Compliance. The teams provide advisory and operations support to global / regional Compliance teams driven by global / regional policies and regulatory expectations. Business Unit Overview: The legal department provides support both to the India businesses and globally as well. The support areas include, but are not limited to IT, HR, ESS and Facilities, litigation, Real Estate, Employment Law, Corporate Secretarial, bond issuances, syndicated lending mandates, margin financing transactions, M&A; advisory mandate, other Industry agreements and also drafts and negotiates prime brokerage and various commercial agreements.Position Specifications :Experience : 4-7 YearsQualification :LLB / LLMRole & Responsibilities – Transactions Legal: Drafting, reviewing and negotiating financial/derivative contracts and related documents of various jurisdictions including India, Asia, Japan, EMEA and US including prime brokerage agreement, master agreements (ISDA, GMRA, etc.), trade documents for debt/notes issuances, trade confirmations.Handling multiple negotiations simultaneously as well as responding to queries received in relation to agreements/ other legal matters.Liaising with various relevant business stakeholders and corporate divisions for their approval on risks / deviations.Being able to identify and highlight risks and liaising with and instructing law firms.Providing commercially savvy legal advice on a variety of matters basis the in-depth research and study of the applicable law provisions.Being abreast with the changing laws and regulations.Advising on the queries received from the business and legal teams related to agreements.Liaising with stakeholders, regional lawyers and business partners in various locations of the firm.
