Job Description
TriMerge Consulting Group, P.A. is building a bench of specialized advisors to support on-call, project-based work for a major transit oversight engagement. We are seeking a Transportation Economist to provide expert analysis on revenue strategies, economic performance, and the broader financial impact of transit programs.
This is a flexible, as-needed role ideal for experienced professionals who bring deep expertise in transportation economics and public-sector analysis. Your work will directly inform high-level decision-making for transit oversight and funding strategies.
Key Responsibilities
• Conduct transit capital and operating revenue enhancement evaluations
• Perform benchmarking and peer comparisons using national transit data sources (e.g., NTD, APTA, FTA)
• Analyze transit program economics, including efficiency, pricing structures, and market dynamics
• Collect and synthesize data from databases, academic journals, publications, and transit agencies
• Develop cost-benefit analyses and economic impact assessments
• Translate complex economic findings into clear, actionable recommendations for stakeholders
• Support ad hoc economic analyses as required by project work orders
Qualifications
• Education: Master’s or PhD in Economics strongly preferred
• Experience: 5+ years in transportation economics, public finance, or applied microeconomics
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in econometric tools (STATA, R, or similar); cost-benefit modeling; data analysis
• Domain Knowledge: Familiarity with transit data sources such as NTD, APTA, and FTA
Preferred:
• Experience supporting transit agencies or local/state government economic analysis
• Familiarity with Florida-based transit systems or funding structures
